The Preston Knights’ football program has recently announced that it is holding a football youth camp.

This is the second annual youth camp and it will run from 9 a.m. to noon on June 18 on the Preston High School turf field.

Participants ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade can join. The cost is free, and those who feel inclined to make a donation will be allowed to do so. All participants are also asked to bring their own water.

The Preston Knights’ track & field program was prominently featured in this week’s RunWVU Class AAA Power Rankings right before this weekend’s state meet.

Allie Martin is ranked No. 2 in the 800-meter, 1600m, and the 3200m while Ella White has a No. 3 spot in the 400m and a No. 10 ranking in the 800m.

Sierra Davis once again nabbed two top 10 rankings in the form of a No. 2 mark in the discus and a No. 6 spot in shot put.

The Preston girls also have two different relay teams who are ranked No. 6 in the state: The 4x400 (White, Martin, Hallie Simmons, Sophia Saurino) and the 4x800 (Abby Nolan, Simmons, Saurino, White).

Margot Cerbone, who suffered a season-ending injury a couple weeks ago, was ranked No. 10 in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Preston girls’ team is ranked No. 5 in the state with 41 points which is tied with Parkersburg.

The top 10 rankings (starting at the top) include Morgantown (90), Jefferson (65), Hurricane (46.75), Huntington (42.50), Parkersburg (41), Preston (41), Wheeling Park (28), University (27), Hedgesville (24), Ripley (24), and Spring Mills (24). There are there teams currently tied for ninth.

RunWV also released its individual state meet medaling and high point predictions. The Knights made it onto the top six in seven different events, and the site placed Martin as the No. 4 highest point scorer at the meet with 22 points, trailing only Morgantown’s Irene Riggs (32.50), University’s Sierra Lanham (26), and Jefferson’s Lorelei Bangit (25).

The Lady Knights placed seventh at last year’s state meet.
